BUYER BEWARE ! And Other Considerations to Look For When Deciding on a kitten |

AJAYS Exotic Bengals of Australia is a small home cattery. We do not have more than 3 litters of kittens a year and each litter is carefully planned to produce the healthiest, well-tempered, show exhibition and breeding quality Bengal kittens. We do not CHURN out kittens for the masses. We have very specific goals with our breeding program. This takes a lot of time, dedication and money.
If a kitten is offered at a much cheaper price than what other reputable breeders are charging, then you should ask yourself WHY? Please do a lot of research before deciding on a particular breeder and ask a multitude of questions before deciding on a breeder.
My kittens are friendly and outgoing. Within seconds of you being in my kitten room, the kittens are happy to come and introduce themselves to you.
Kittens which run away and hide for lengthy periods of time and cannot be coaxed out of their hiding places, should be regarded with suspicion.
It is normal for kittens to scurry away when new people come into their special place but good temperament and a natural curiosity will win out in the end and they will approach you inquisitively.
Make sure the cattery you visit is clean and does not have any underlying odours.
The eyes of kittens must be clear and bright and ears of kittens must be clean. Kittens must not have runny noses. There must be no coughing, sneezing or an otherwise overall lacklustre appearance. Coats should be glossy and well maintained.
Find out which cat association governing body, the breeder is a member of and take the time to ring them, to determine if the breeder is recommended or has any complaints currently against them.
Please ask the breeder how long they have been breeding, as this can directly impact on their knowledge or lack of it, for this particular breed.
If meeting the breeder at a show, still ask all the relevant questions as a good breeder should take the time to speak to you, regardless of where they are.
